2022 Co-Branded Spot: “Copy Cat”

In the 2022 season, FOX Sports and Universal Studios collaborated to create a custom co-branded commercial spot promoting the film “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” during the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup Semi-Finals and Final. DreamWorks Animation supplied custom animation sequences for the commercial, which also featured US Men’s National team star midfielder, Weston McKennie, seamlessly merging the world of international soccer and the magical world of Puss in Boots within the same spot.

FOX Sports ensured the commercial debuted on December 3rd, ahead of the crucial USA vs. Netherlands Round of 16 match, maximizing exposure to millions of soccer fans eagerly awaiting the US team’s first World Cup knockout match since 2014. The expedited delivery and strategic timing of the spot amplified its impact, creating a memorable experience for viewers and enhancing the film’s promotion.

Custom Partnership Campaign Elements

In addition to the Co-Branded Spot, FOX Soccer and Universal produced three custom vignettes which aired ahead of both semi-final matches and the World Cup Final. Voiced by the film’s lead star Antonio Banderas, these vignettes were capped off by a custom animation element driving awareness to the movie release.
